The good folks at Nielsen Beaumont boatyard in San Diego donated this fantastic 42 foot Grand Banks woodie as our mothership. Its very solid and will be modified as the support ship for CA. The rear cabin will be cut off and a larger aft deck will provide space for wheelchair access that will allow greater participation for the participants of Challenged America. The boat will serve as the race committee boat for Challenged America as well as an observation platform for those wanting to view the action in our fleet of Martin 16 sloops. Our friend Tom jarvis at San Diego Marine Exchange connected us with Interlux and System Three who donated ALL the paint and epoxy needs.
However Challenged America needs your help, if you can donate any hard work and muscle we are looking for anyone to help us do the application of the products. If you can break away anytime for a little boat work call me and I can get you involved. You dont need to be an expert, just have some muscle and want to help a good cause. CA is a great all volunteer program that assists people with disabilities get into sailing since 1978. Give me a ring if you can lend a hand…dave 619-808-3650 or go to www.challengedamerica.org.
