the race is on

Â

Since Michel Desjoyeaux and Foncia were knocked out of the Barcelona World Race, our excitement level (and the fans’) has dropped off quite a bit.  While we are amazed at the volume of video content coming off the boats (nothing has EVER come close) and we can’t fault the organizers for doing anything but a stellar job of things, watching Dick and Peyron power away from the rest of the fleet just ain’t that interesting.

But it’s all about to change, as Paprec-Virbac is about to pull into Wellington for a little R&R, kiwi-style, to fix some of the batten cars that they’ve destroyed along the way and pick up replacements.  They’ll have to wait 48 hours before restarting, which should be just enough time for Iker and Xabi to get close enough to read their sail number.   Read the full Paprec press release here, track the action here, and of course go here for the best place to discuss it all.

Oh, and look how Boris Herrmann plays the flute while surfing along at 17 knots.  Who says Germans have no sense of humor!
