shark attack?

Anarchist Lester gives us the story of this unfortunate picture, and no shark was involved: The truth is, it kinda looks like a jaws type bite, but is actually the result of too many boats ending up swimming in the same current eddy off Yerba Buena island. There was strong ebb which we were sailing against, getting to the island we found a great counter current leading up to the current wall and you would jump in it with great optimism sail around the corner and meet up and stall. After an hour or so there was 50 or so boats of all sizes, including tris, tacking in 3 knots of wind against a 3 knot adverse current, trying to make it around the island.

After about a half hour of this shit we split and waited off shore, all in all it took around 3 hours in the drizzle to get around. Rounding the marks this way, counter, was the “Smart Choice” and sucked.  Moonshine, great boat and many times Transpac racer was just the unlucky statistic, she was just hit by a boat with no way on moving at 4 knots a moving obstruction.
