Going into this week’s Miami OCR and the beginning of the process that will decide who goes to Weymouth, Genny T and team get honored. Check it.
Great news as our team was given the first award of the night at the annual US Sailing Team Alphagraphics dinner–that of "Breakthrough Performance"– for our results for 2010, including our defense of the US Women’s Match Racing title, and our 5th place at the World Championship. What an exciting honor, we’re very proud to be a part of this team and are extremely happy to be recognized with this award! The link to the press release is here.
Now we’re turning our focus on racing for the Miami Olympic Classes Regatta, which starts tomorrow for the 24 match racing teams from 15 countries (among the 700 competitors from more than 50 countries total!). We’ve had three good full weeks of training/racing here and are feeling very well-prepared. With conditions forecast to be varying throughout the week from light and hot to rainy and windy, we’re looking forward to some excellent racing. We start in Group B, so will be the second match racing group to hit the water tomorrow, probably around 12. The regatta website will have twitter feeds from the various race courses including ours, along with photographs from Amory Ross (who also took our awards pic!).
Thanks to US Sailing Team Alphagraphics and its sponsors, especially Atlantis for the sharp team gear! Thanks also to the USSTAG administration for keeping this team running and for hosting such an excellent dinner to celebrate the team’s achievements. We look forward to another great year with our USSTAG teammates, coaches, sponsors and staff!
