harbour tour

This year was the 20th running of the Club Marine Fremantle Harbour Race, which consists of 30 yachts starting in handicap sequence (slowest first) over a 30 minute period, racing 5 laps of the Fremantle harbour.

It is intended primarily as an exhibition race with full commentary on a local radio station, but there are not too many yachts that don’t go out with 100% intention of winning it. There is generally a crowd of a 500 or so people watching on the wharf that are quite literally within 50m of the boats rounding a separation mark.

The winner was a chartered Foundation 36 skippered by Mark Robins called Skid Racing with the fastest time going to Farr 47 Knee Deep (ex Yendys) skippered by Phil Childs.
