come back soon
Considering his history as a bit of a boat breaker, it’s safe to say that neither team sponsor Hugo Boss nor Barcelona World Race co-skipper Andy Meiklejohn want to see AT with any excuses to come home early. But it turns out he’s got a big one – partner Kate Denham will be having his child just days after the January 1st start of the race. It makes the below video all the more touching, and we’re already starting to get pulled in to what we expect to be an extremely exciting race. Hell, maybe being a new dad will get Alex to pull back a bit and keep the rig in the boat? Comment on the situation or AT here.
Our Senior Editor and his sexy photographer bride are already in Barcelona to cover the run-up to what has rapidly become one of the majors in Open 60 racing, and we’ll have tons of content – video, photo, and written – to go with the official stuff all the way from now until the December 31st start. We don’t know exactly what Clean’s got for us, but as long as it isn’t the same as this crazy chick’s coverage, it’s fine with us.
Look for a report and video on Monday from the opening of the massive race village and christening of the sole US skipper’s boat – Ryan Breymaier and Boris Hermann’s Neutrogena. (Thanks to the Dummies for the title inspiration)
