On one hand, it’s particularly fucked up that maybe the best cruising sailing documentary ever is a no-budget Vimeo link. A pasttime that counts tens of thousands of devotees worldwide on hundreds of millions of dollars worth of boats and gear, but the only one doing any high quality moviemaking is a kookie indie filmmaking anarchist? On the other, it’s particularly cool that a few rebels with some low-budget camera equipment and a lot of free time on their hands came up with Hold Fast, an hour-and-change long voyage movie on a seriously anarchistic cruise aboard the S/V Pestilence. And it doesn’t hurt that they call themselves the Anarchist Yacht Club. Get the popcorn out and sit back for an online sojourn on the sea, and learn more about the producers here. Thanks to SA’er ‘Tranquilo’ for the heads up.
