We are late as hell with this, but thought it interesting….
The Sea Property Multihull Championship was organised by the ACYC (Ao Chalong Yacht Club) Phuket Thailand.
Highlights of the 3 days of sailing show Pescott FireFly 850 Sports Catamaran class, Corsair Trimarans and other assorted cruising and racing multihulls including Henry Kay’s untouchable Seacart 30 Trimaran.
The regatta racing comprised of windward leeward courses and around the island courses which were sailed in and around Chalong Bay and closer islands.
This is a great event, as it gives the mono-maran sailors in the yacht club an opportunity to get out on something different(and faster)each year to help fill the crew positions and to have some understanding of why us multihull sailors are always smiling as we go past most keel boats.
The regatta was a great success and as usual will be held as a lead-up event to Phuket Race Week as it has been for the past 3 years.
If you’re in Phuket around the middle of July 2011 get yourself down to the ACYC and make yourself known, you will be made welcome in this friendly club and I am sure you can find a ride on one of the local cat’s or tri’s and experience the great lifestyle we enjoy here in Southern Thailand. check the vid.
