pryde in diversity
Sailmaker Neil Pryde is once again branching out into a new field, this time with the help of another cross-trainer of a company, BMW, with their US-based DesignWorks studio. Pryde’s new road bikes are made of high-mod carbon fiber fit out with top of the line gear, with the top unit coming in at just under 15 lbs. for the full machine.
We’re guessing that NP’s vast experience in Chinese manufacturing of sails and rigs is paying dividends right now in their ability to manufacturer nice kit cheaply, but their existing customer base is also a benefit, consisting largely of dinghy sailors and kiteboard/windsurfers that are sure to include lots of cyclists. Smart move, but not a surprise from a company that’s creative enough to sponsor all the waiter uniforms at a pizza joint in Lake Garda. Talk about it here, and thanks to SA’er ‘hokie’ for the heads up.
