start with a bang
The Detroit River laid down near-perfect conditions for the start of the Grade 2 Detroit Cup, with defending champ Anna Tunnicliffe taking 5 for 5 to lead a fleet from all over the world in what’s become an extremely cool event. It’s the only kind of monohull match racing we’ll bother with – extremely short courses in a confined space forcing plenty of boat-on-boat action, with courses set close enough to shore for everyone to enjoy – and enjoy it they did!
This was the most entertaining of the rubbin’ – a nice port-starboard crash between Chris Van Tol and Nicolai Sehested, with audio coming off Van Tol’s boat. You can find every minute of the racing, along with a great Cocktail Hour, the opening ceremony, and some great Meredith Block photos in the thread right here.
Racing starts tomorrow at 10 AM EST. Watch it live on your computer, with IonEarth Tracking, here or get the Justin.TV app for your iPhone or iPad to watch it on the go.
