15 boats are rolling into SDYC this week for the 2010 US Nationals.  2010 has been a big travel year for the I-14 fleet with 14 US boats going to the Sydney Worlds last January and 20+ heading to Hawaii for the Pacific Rim Champs in October.

The first championship race starts outside the bay on Friday… followed by the mandatory (and non-throwable) distance race – a 15 mile tour de SD Harbor with more ocean buoy courses to follow Saturday and Sunday.  Even though the forecast is for an 8-12kt+ range, with the ‘unlimited’ kite size the I-14’s put up, the distance race and rumored triangle courses should make for some exciting rips and a few crashes in these super refined double trap full carbon skiffs.

Top US finisher at the ’10 Worlds Paul Galvez and crew Guillo Leonbarra will be on hand from ABYC, + strong Northern Cal and Seattle contingents will be down including former World and current National Champions, Kris Bundy and Jaime Hanseler.  San Diego 14 fleet pimp Brad Reutenik and crew Patrick Murray have been putting in there time on the local waters and are expected to be a contender.

If you want to check out some very cool boats and meet a fun fleet that likes to hook in and go fast, come down to SDYC or head out to the water this Fri-Sun to check the action.
