The Pogo40S² N1 build for the GOR 2011, has been launched this week and have completed the 180° test under Josh Hall’s control.
After 20 minutes on the roof, the Pogo40S² rolled over with two co-skippers inside.
Upside down, propped up inside, Jean-Edouard Criquioche and Jacques Fournier co-skippers of Team Group Picoty have followed step by step the instructions from the architect to fill the lateral water ballast and possibly the front water ballast to give a little help for movement of the boat … But this has not been necessary, as the Class 40 began to rotate 180 degrees, gently at first, then fast! "You’d better hold on!" Said Jean-Edouard.
Next week the crew of the new Class 40 Picoty Group will conduct its first sea trials, then preparation and training for the Route du Rhum-La Banque Postale. 5 other pogo40S² are currently in build and 5 will race the Route du Rhum in November. 3 of them will race around the world for the GOR 2011. More info on the boat can be found here.
