It’s going to be a nail-biting week in more ways than one! I’ll be donning these for a meeting in London with a company interested in being involved financially with ‘Open Boat Orchestra.’
While on Friday, I’ll be tucking a Musto dry suit into these for probably the most awesome ride of my life – a sail on Hydroptère – the experimental hydrofoil that on December 21, 2008 briefly attained a speed of 61+ knots, before capsizing.
Background: On September 4, 2009, Hydroptère set the outright world record, sustaining a speed of 51.36 knots for 500m in 30 knots of wind. One month later, Hydroptère broke the 50 knot barrier for a nautical mile with a speed of 50.17 kts at Hyeres in France. The boat was re-launched on May 4th this year, after 4 months in the yard.
I will be shooting my own YouTube video for you anarchists. In the meantime, I shall leave you with this. – Lia Ditton.
