flat scream tv
With all Ellison and Coutts guff about TV and sponsor-friendly racing for the 34th America’s Cup and the likely venue increasingly clinched as San Francisco Bay, this video of the SF-based Citibank Cup from the mid 90’s is suddenly relevant. Anarchist ‘Mustang_1’ found this video of the media-friendly pro-am series raced in Ron Holland 11m designs – it’s a fun little production that gives us a window on what would be possible with sexy, modern, high-speed designs, omnipresent images, and a little less disco in the product (it also confirms Paul Cayard’s world-leading title of "most monotonous voice in sailing"). If the mainstream media buy into it (and maybe Ellison’s got the juice to finally make that happen), sailing could be ready to turn a major corner by sometime in, say, 2013. Talk about it on the thread.
