race hard, party on
If you’ve been waiting for a serious So Cal offshore race that doesn’t require passports, finishes at the same place it starts, and offers new challenges, then check out the brand new Around The Islands Race.
Starting and finishing off Newport Beach and hosted by Bahia Corinthian Yacht Club on July 16-18, 2010, this 125 nm race around Catalina and Santa Barbara islands (clockwise) offers the challenge of long off-wind, up-wind, and down-wind legs. You are likely to encounter a wide range of conditions on this unique, fun and challenging event.
Medicine Man is the first entry in the Maxi class and the rest of the big boat fleet will be entering soon. Compete for the Best Corrected Overall…be the first to have your name on the new Perpetual Trophy.
To make it even more fun, there’s an Oakley-sponsored “pirate” theme party Thursday evening before the race with Captain Morgan and his bevy of wenches adding to the fun. Dance to the live band or just kick back and enjoy the scene.
BCYC is also hosting a club event on Saturday night open to early finishers and guests. And…the post-race Trophy Presentation on Sunday will knock your boat shoes off….music and some really nice raffle items will complete the weekend.
We are stoked to have Oakley sunglasses as our presenting sponsor and will award polarized sunglasses to each class winning skipper.
Racers and friends are invited to PARTY HARD and RACE HARD!
Go to www.bcyc.org (On The Water/Around The Islands) and sign up now. This is a race you do not want to miss!
