After "that volcano" erupted in Iceland and messed up all of Keith Swinton’s plans for the grade one match racing event, the Open de Espana happening this week, the Mirsky Racing Team stepped in to fill the gap. So far it has run pretty smoothly.
After light winds yesterday caused a short day of racing, the teams were sent out promptly today with the race committee eager to get through as much of the format as possible. MRT have completed 8 races so far, and are boasting a 100% win record.
"It has been a really good week so far" says Kinley Fowler of MRT "the pressure is off us and we can just go and have some fun out there. We won this event a couple of years ago so we are pretty comfortable in the boats. Tomorrow we have to race Damien Iehl from France though who also hasn’t lost one yet, so we’re gonna have to work pretty hard to shut him down."
In typical Spanish style, the racing starts late tomorrow. For now though, the team can kick back, relax and enjoy a good siesta. – Team Mirsky. Photo by Jesus Renedo
