yippee kai, yeah!
The Fort Worth Boat Club hosted the 2010 Sundance Cup Women’s Match Racing series last month. This series is part of the Women’s International Match Racing Association series (www.wimra.org). The winning team consisted of Maegan Ruhlman (from the long time Lightning racing family) skipper, Nataleigh Vann, Emily Pulos and Megan Riddle. The winning team thus qualifies for the 2010 BoatUS Santa Maria Cup Series.
The final day of racing for the "finals" and "petit finals" was cancelled due to high winds/weather. The boats used were J22’s provided by the host club, and they proved to be extremely well matched. Final results were decided on "heads up" racing between the 4 teams left in the preceding double round robin.
The attached picture is from the trophy presentation held on Saturday night, March 20th at the FWBC. Check out the boots – very appropriate for Fort Worth, Texas! It is rumored that several teams then adjourned to the infamous Billy Bobs western "honky tonk" and were very good for the downtown Fort Worth economy that night! thanks to Anarchist Rick.
