3df?

So what you are not hearing about the new North 3di sails is that there are huge problems with them. Apparently these sails were originally going to be called 3dc (clear) as North thought they had figured out a way to use a super strong directional film without many load-bearing fibers at all. The original sails were apparently so strange looking (all film, few threads) that we hear North freaked out, adding the gray film that you see above as a way of "masking" the clear look. Not only did this add much unneeded weight, but apparently the first 50 or so sails all have had bad chemical reactions between the clear and colored films and a new advanced adhesive, resulting in – where have we heard this before – major delamination and structural issues. We can’t wait for the spin doctors at North to twist this one around.

C-Cut, anyone?
