Hey you Newporters – I guess you noticed that The America’s Cup is on its way to San Francisco and Larry Ellison has been regularly quoted as saying he would love to have AC34 here.
Sure there are hurdles, but what American city doesn’t have them? Oh and didn’t someone say they’d love to have sailing without the politics? Guess who holds the purse strings in any venue? Politicians. So folks, start by a show of hands here and then, if you have the wherewithal, stand up to help lobby San Francisco and potentially Alameda to get out their wallets & hammers to build a venue. Petition? Criminy. It’s gonna take smart, savvy, passionate sailors to make this happen anywhere, not just a petition. And San Francisco is the best place to make that happen.
