short report

no sun/no fun

Today was the first day of racing at the 29er xx Superbowl in sunny South
Florida but today we had liquid sunshine. We set up a windward-leeward course
in a steady SE breeze at 7-8 knots. We got nine boats in one race of what we
hoped would be three or four but it was not to be. The wind died at noon and
after floating around for awhile the sailors called for an informal
singlehand race in the light air. Again, was not to be. A squall set on us as
we were setting it up and everyone ran for shore. All the powerboats on the
scene towed two or three boats apiece and some sailors opted to sail back. We
counted heads at the dock. We were all safe and wet. Tomorrow’s a better day.  – Kit.
