Just wanted to say Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone from Antarctica and thank you to SA for the hoodie which is keeping me toasty and warm at Rothera Station Boat Shed at 67S this ‘summer’. It is pretty warm down here in fact it is the fastest warming place on earth at the moment. The wind chill is what gets you, otherwise it is only around -2 during the day. So lots of you are in colder places I am sure! The clear air is amazing; it is unbelievable to be able to see mountains 100 miles away and think they are right next door! Christmas day was beautiful here but 40 km away at the Argentine base, the wind averaged 68 knots!
I am off to climb one of the small peaks around here today – alpine mountaineering and being a co-pilot are keeping my mind off the lack of sailing at the moment however, I am missing it and contemplating building something in the woodshop. I hope you all enjoyed the holidays with your families. I am enjoying staying in touch with the sailing scene, thanks for the great job on the website to everyone who contributes!
