Precious little 14 year-old Laura Dekker was so insistent on starting her own solo round-the-world voyage that Netherlands Social Services placed her under state supervision two months ago, but last week she proved that The Man can’t get this teenaged rebel down. Dekker disappeared on Friday after emptying 3500 Euro from her bank account, leading to an international hunt for her that ended on Sunday, when she was found on the Caribbean island of St. Maarten and taken into police custody. Officials are trying to figure out how the hell this young girl vanished so easily and made it so far so fast – maybe she’s got the stones for this kind of trip after all? Comment here.
