The big dogs of the early days Melges 32 Fleet seem to have passed the torch, with class legends New Wave and Star struggling for the top 10 at the 2009 Gold Cup. Newcomers Ramrod (Rod Jabin) and Rougarou (Andy Lovell) are first and third, with veterans Ninkasi and Roxanne in 2nd an 4th. Results Here.

But today, things get interesting.  Yesterday’s winds were light-ish with a big square chop, putting a premium on power and trim and starts.  Today’s models call for up to 22 knots from the SW, and the guys who do well will do so because they don’t break things or fall over too often.  It should be something to watch, and you can do so in technicolor, with On-The-Water Anarchy’s video, photo, and written coverage of the entire Gold Cup along with Kattack’s live race player.  Check ’em out here.

The best contributor to today’s coverage will win a pair of new Kaenon sunglasses courtesy of Point Loma Outfitting or a calendar from Ultimate Sailing!  Details here.
