Ground Round

Oceanwatch’s grueling circumnavigation of North and South America via the Northwest Passage and Cape Horn took a brief break today when the 64′ steel beast pulled into Charleston, SC this morning.  Mr. Clean was on hand to meet skipper Mark Schrader, the first American to singlehand round the world via the great capes back in the early 80s.  Schrader is the real deal, and the Oceanwatch program is an important and laudable one, supported by our good friends at Sailors For The Sea.  Herb McCormick, the country’s last great sailing magazine writer, is also aboard, and he gave Clean a great interview about the trip that you can find here.
