Trust and Thanks
JohnTommy Rosas is flattered with all the messages of positive support for the efforts to establish the America’s Cup Trust. It has been very fulfilling to read the e-mails from all over the world the last few days about what the America’s Cup means to people from very different walks of life.
There are many questions which have been asked, or assumptions that have been made, which require some sort of clarification. Firstly, the question is how will the America’s Cup Trust acquire power over the Deed of Gift, and what will make those powers enforceable? Those are good and valid questions, but, because there has to be legal action to make all of that happen, it will not be prudent to disclose the evidence that will presented to a court which will empower the America’s Cup Trust.
There will be a process to unveil all of the necessary documentation that will provide the basis for the empowerment of the America’s Cup Trust that will be revealed in due course. Of course what would be best is if the Defender SNG sat down and agreed to discuss all of this with the America’s Cup Trust. Unfortunately, that is not likely to happen, which is a real shame.
The goals of the America’s Cup Trust are simple – to create a platform that is going to allow for fair competition in the oldest sailing event in the world, and to return the America’s Cup back to the stature it once enjoyed, as recently as two years ago, on the world stage.
In the mean time, probably early next week, work will begin on the Declaration of The America’s Cup Trust. A thread in the SA forum about this will be started so that everyone can have input.
