Li’l Doggies
It blew the dogs off their chains here today on the 4th day of the 2009 Formula Windsurfing World Championships in Santa Pola Spain. The fleet was caught by surprise as the winds ramped up to 25-30k with most on their light wind rigs.
By the time the chaos ended, we got 2 more races under our belts for 7 so far over the past 4 days.
The first 2 days saw light and shifty conditions which made for some very tactical and close racing in the 80 boards men’s fleet.
So far, Polish sailors are cleaning up in both the men’s and women’s fleet with Przemek Miarczynski and Marta Hlavaty at the top of the leader boards. Its been a tough regatta in the middle of the fleet for me as Ive found myself struggling in the light air but finally found my groove today making some strides in the breeze. With 2 more days, anything can happen and probably will. Stay tuned at www.formulawindsurfing.org and www.stevebodner.blogspot.com.
