As new Moth World Champ Bora Gulari was racing Beneteau dump trucks in Detroit, he found out he’d made the cover of the only sailing magazine worth a damn (in the US, anyway) – Seahorse. Meanwhile, next year’s Moth Worlds will be held in Dubai less than an hour from Alinghi’s America’s Cup venue in RAK, and just a few weeks after the big dance, assuming it happens. Could be a great spring vacation for the sailing fans out there. We’ll finish up our extensive coverage of the Class and Worlds with US Moth Class President Nigel Oswald’s final post as Worlds Chairman. A hell of a job to nige and all involved.
I was hoping to get this out last week but somehow I underestimated the shock of returning to the real world and dealing with issues that had been largely ignored for a couple of weeks!
I just wanted to give a summary of the best photos and videos as well as reiterate thanks to a few of the key players in making this event the resounding success that it was (Apart from the Sun who failed miserably. Only silver lining is that the lower temps probably stopped the winds getting nuclear). It seems that we set new benchmarks for media publicity, worldwide exposure in and out of the sailing world as well as drastically reducing productivity for the employers of the few thousand people per day who where following the event’s every move.More here
