I thought the attached chart may be of ‘irrevocable’ use somehow; I am not a
New York Judge, but as a sailor and navigator the definition of ‘headland’ is
very clear. To me, it seems the waters adjacent to Ras Al-Khaimah ARE
bounded by a Headland; as attached drawing depicts.
Since this is true by unequivocal definition, I find the only proper choice
the Defender can make pursuant TO and BY Global Yachting Standards of Ethics
is to hold the race south of the boundary I have lined out or move the race
where there is no question as to interfering headland(s). In further
context, one must also be reminded of the definition of a Gulf, which Vice
Commodore Meyer correctly spells out: "The Persian Gulf is a PART of the
