So far, Hamilton Island Week has been more a week of swimming, snorkelling and just lazing the day away than one of sailing, with crews kept hanging around for wind. When the wind has come, it has not been what you could call the stuff that makes for exciting racing. Best entertainment of the weekend, judging from the cheers and laughter, was supplied by Gavin Brady when he managed to get Alan Brierty’s RP63 Limit caught up on the pin end mark. Crewman Darren ‘Twirler’ Jones dived overboard to try and free the mark to the delight of the other race crews, but in the end the anchor rope had to be cut to let the boat go free. Brady and crew’s embarrassment was short lived, as they went on to a handicap win. Pic from Andrea Francolini and more here.
