A good day for the US at the Star Worlds with 2 boats within striking distance of the overall win (and 4 boats inside the top 15). Magnus Liljedahl proves once again that all he touches is good. If Andrew Campbell manages to win it overall he will vault Magnus ”The Viking” to legend status in the Star class. George Szabo is only one point behind the Kiwis, Pepper and Monk, who are leading the regatta going into the last race. Only 3 points separate the top four boats with Campbell/Liljedahl only 5 points behind that.
The final race tomorrow will be massive. The forecast tomorrow is for lighter conditions than today, (3-4kts) and this suits Quantum San Diego’s George Szabo just fine. He has been trying for many many years to win a worlds and his time is now. George is counting a score of 1-3-3-20 going into the final race, and will be strong in the light air if he can hold it together for one last race. The Kiwis have been solid all regatta too without a finish worse than an 11th, very impressive stuff. Stay tuned for the final race tomorrow and see who will be the new Star World.
