The first Round Robin of Women’s Match Racing World Championship, in Lysekil, has ended, with Anna Kjellberg of Sweden and Claire Leroy of France leading the competition with only one loss each. With that score the two leaders as well as Swedish Marie Björling are definitely set for the quarterfinals. Marie Björling, who is also from Sweden, lost one of four matches today to stay close behind, but the Swedish reigning champion, Linda Rahm, bowed out with only one win today.
Five teams will fight for the last three places in the quarterfinals. The two Danish teams, Lotte Meldgaard Pedersen and Camille Ulrikkeholm, are used to DS37 boats and looking good, but the Australian teams, with skippers Katie Spithill and Nicole Sauter, and American Sally Barkow are also in with a chance. Pic from Dan Ljungsvik and more here.
