The owner of a Dana Point yacht brokering firm is wanted for questioning by the Orange County Sheriff’s Department after more than 20 victims contacted authorities reporting more than $200,000 is missing from bank accounts used in yacht transactions, according to Sheriff’s spokesman Jim Amormino. Ed Fitzgerald, a Laguna Beach resident and longtime owner of Dana Island Yachts in the Dana Point Harbor, hasn’t been seen from in a week.
“This could be just the tip of the iceberg,” said Amormino. “The money lost could be in the millions. There are 20 victims that we know of, but they keep coming forward.”
