To the surprise of nobody, Criminal Mischief is smokin’ em going to Hawaii. Here’s today’s funny report from Jeff Thorpe…
BSP 15.60 TWA 144 TWS 18.4 heading 243 pressure 1018 full cloud cover.
Day 4 brings promise of our southern routing with wind speed and direction to help take advantage of our leverage to the south of our fleet. As the boats to the north seem to have been able to cut thru the high with no great slow down, both ourselves & Horizon have been pretty committed to this course so hopefully it pays off for us both!!
Life on board has been interesting as our youth brigade has yet to appreciate the wonderful thing of light air sailing, or the understanding of not eating whenever they want so I press on hiding food. We had our sat phone docking station go down so our ability to receive weather faxes went down in flames. It must have been me reading the forums on Sailing Anarchy that was the problem! So I got to work on getting our Get Fax program back working to receive weather faxes via SSB – we just ran out of time before we left and I was pretty happy with the sat phone set up so it got left off the list? Anyway with a few watches in the nav station I was able to fix this problem without the help of an IT guy!!!
Last night around 10 pm we passed along side the J-35 Addiction had a chat with them – seems they had been stuck in no wind for a day where we passed them glad to see that we are bringing wind down the course as the Alaska Eagle reports 5 knots of wind from the east 300 miles in front of us…
Well it looks like the Sunday starters will have the best conditions for the race so we will press on trying to win our start day!!!
