Last weekend Ben Schulz launched his new Fireball. It is the latest boat out of the Australian Fireball Manufacturers mould and was built by Brett Young and his team at the YMS factory in Lonsdale, South Australia. It is a full S glass, vinyl ester hull with an extra outer layer of glass and additional framing in the bow. Despite being super stiff and strong it is also very light, requiring lead to bring it up to the minimum hull weight.
The boat is finished off to the usual high quality YMS standard and fitted out with the latest fittings from Ronstan and Harken.
This is just one of 5 new Fireballs in the South Australian fleet.
The arrival of new boats has created a great opportunity for those keen to enter the class and who are looking to buy a top second hand boat.
With the upcoming Australian National Championships in Port Stephens NSW, the 2010 Worlds in Barbados and the Worlds coming to Mandurah, Western Australia in 2012 why wouldn’t you want to sail a Fireball!
