BYM News For Sale

Six months ago, BYM News’s Aldous Grenville Crowther developed an infection, which was treated with fluoro-quinolones – first Ciprofloxacine and then, when the infections re-occurred, with the newer Tavanic. Doctors, including specialist rheumatologists, failed to associate early warning symptoms of joint pains and swellings with flouro-quinolones, even after Aldous had ended up in a wheelchair. Eventually, he was admitted to a University Hospital, which recognised the problem and has reported it to the French authorities that control drug use, with a request for an investigation. That hospital has been able to ameliorate Aldous’ condition, but he is still far from the fit and active man he was before receiving these antibiotics.

This sorry saga has two implications for anarchists. Firstly, sailors get infections – through cuts and abrasions, especially when sailing in polluted waters – and should be aware of the fluoro-quinolone dangers – a quick Google will show that this is not an isolated case – and think twice about taking them. Secondly, the loss of such a key member has put an intolerable load on the other BYM News people, so they have collectively made a decision to sell the site, which is a great opportunity for some anarchist with publishing aspirations to acquire a long established web site with a major archive of boating stories, a huge photo gallery and a great relationship with Sailing Anarchy. If you are that anarchist check out the site http://www.bymnews.com and then go to the contacts page and e-mail for further info.
