Donner Party
The inaugural Donner Cup, presented by Helly Hansen, was a huge success in its debut. Snow
capped peaks provided the backdrop as seven International 14’s from throughout Northern
California did battle over two days on Donner Lake, located in beautiful Truckee, California. The
14’s had the lake entirely to themselves, with steady 12-15 knot breezes both days, and flat water
providing awesome racing.
The regatta was a great tune-up for Nationals in the Columbia River Gorge later this summer and
North Americans in Long Beach this October. With the success achieved in the first installment of
this regatta it’s sure to remain on the schedule for years to come. Check out photos from the event and video too.
