Hi Po Freeload
One of the most important trends in North American sailing today is the growth of the high-performance open dinghy regatta championed so frequently on the pages of Sailing Anarchy, and one of the best of these is the five year old Ottawa Skiff Grand Prix running this weekend in Ontario.
Open to all high-po dinghies and cats, the OSGP has a training clinic as well as great race committee work, and we’ve heard awesome things about the party. The organizers say, “The National Capital Region has proven to be a fantastic venue for this type of regatta – certainly in part due to the hosting club, the Nepean Sailing Club (NSC), and its lively social scene. If you have attended this event in previous years, you are well aware of what I am referring to. If you have been so unfortunate to miss this event in the past, do not allow such misfortune to fall upon your sailing soul again.”
Dinghy Anarchy sponsor RS Sailboats is bringing a couple of their double trapeze RS-800 skiffs to the event, and they’ll let Anarchists take them out for a spin if they send a PM to ‘twotone,” or probably even if you just show up. Here’s a pretty cool video on the 800 (with compulsory hot blonde bikini babe talking about drinking beer), and here is an even cooler video from last year’s OSGP. Sorry, no bikinis.
