What a finish! The first 5 Figaros in the Transmanche, from Aber Wrac’h to Plymouth and back, finished within 6 minutes after 220 miles of racing. First and second, experienced Yann Eliés on Generali and up and coming Thomas Rouxel on Defi Mousquetaires, who led at Plymouth, finished two minutes apart. This event is considered to be one of the pointers to the famous Solitaire du Figaro and Yann Eliés, who is still working up to full strength in the leg he broke in the Vendée Globe, is now established as favorite. Those margins don’t, however, suggest he is in for a walkover. Photo of Generali from Benoit Stitchelbault and more here.
