10 teams involved from Brasil, Spain, Scotland, Holland and eventually France sailed last weekend, in La Rochelle France, in a wet but windy European women’s , University level, ISAF Grade 2 match racing event.

In other years, the lineup was “light” but now that teams want to get ranking points for the next Olympic Games in London, 2012, countries want to send their prospective teams canvassing for experience in the for the newly created Olympic “women’s” match racing category.

The atmosphere was upbeat, as usual for the women’s university events; despite the gray and rainy weather, but the decent winds, 12-22 knots over the three days ensured, lively sailing and worn out crews. This was a grade 2 match racing event, distinguished by its European, and international (Brazil) participants, as well as 6 International Judges/Umpires.
