We still can’t figure out the point of Thomas Jundt’s Mirabaud experiments. First, Jundt built a boat with nearly no skin; just the barest bit of hull and high-flying foils. Since they had to push-start the frankenboat with a motorboat anyway, Jundt recently pulled the rest of the skin off, leaving nothing but a network of tubes to hold his ‘boat’ together. She still flies, but what the hell for? Given Jundt’s connection with SNG, could this be experimental foil work for Alinghi? Or is Jundt yet another Swiss head case with too much time and money? You tell us.
