Banque Populaire has been waiting in Cadiz since March for the right weather to take a crack at the Discovery Route record. Now the giant trimaran has been joined by Thomas Coville’s Sodeb’O, which is on standby to try to beat Francis Joyon’s record of 9 jours, 20 heures, 35 minutes. Joyon had a tough time after a cracking start and had to take a far from direct route, so the record is definitely beatable, but only if Mother Nature is kinder to Thomas than she was to Francis. Going on BPV’s luck to date, nobody is counting their chickens! Photo from Sodeb’O Voile and more here.
