While the world’s racers pull their head in waiting for someone to push the “Easy” button, the Class 40 has quietly been infiltrating North American ports. 12 of the excellent ocean racers are now based here, with 5 of them scheduled to race the Bermuda 1-2 in a bit more than a month.
The 40s are relatively affordable and extremely cool, and on May 30-31, The Anarchists can check them out at the Newport Yacht Club in Rhode Island. Saturday visitors can meet the designers and owners of the boats, with speeches and lectures on how it all works, while Sunday is sailing day. The best part? It’s free.
