Old Guys Rule

Less than one month from now 75 to 100 Laser Masters sailors will descend upon the sleepy beach town of Wrightsville Beach North Carolina to sail in the 2009 Masters North American Championship Regatta hosted by the Carolina Yacht Club on May 15-17.

This will be the second time in 4 years CYC has been chosen to host this event.  Many people work to make this event one of the best on the Masters circuit both on and off the water.  Regatta princess Arland Whitesides always pulls out the stops to make this one of the most anticipated Masters events on the calendar.  On the water we have become accustomed to great race management and off the water Arland has always pulled out the stops with fantastic food and drink along with awesome door prizes donated from generous sponsors.

CYC is a classic venue with a massive ocean front club house featuring a second story bar and deck that provides fantastic views of the Atlantic and the race course.  The launch area is across the street on the ICW which allows for a 30 to 40 minute warm up sail to the ocean course with a sometimes vigorous sail out Masonboro Inlet and some epic surfing runs during the sail in at the end of the day when the breeze is typically up and the swell in the inlet has reached its peak for the day.
