Ok, last week we mentioned that we were hosting a contest, possibly the biggest one ever here on Sailing Anarchy. And we said the details would follow. Well…here are they, and we’re pretty sure you won’t be disappointed.
The premier racing boat we mentioned last week- that would be PUMA’s il mostro. Yes, you read that right, one of our lucky anarchists will be joining Kenny Read and the PUMA Ocean Race team in Boston, sailing on their boat for the Volvo Ocean Race Pro-Am Race. So, not only do you get to meet the boat and get up close and personal with the PUMA boat, but you’ll have a chance to be part of the crew for the day – and did we mention that your airfare and lodging is part of the prize?
Now for the contest:
If there’s one thing the anarchists are absolutely awesome at, it’s the art of the rant. We rant about the sport, we rant about handicaps, we rant about politics, we rant about everything. Let’s see if we can do something constructive about it.
Your job is to come up with a 500-word rant that presents your best idea for making something about sailing better over the next decade. Ocean racing, dinghy sailing, the America’s Cup, the Olympics, format, sponsorship, naked beach cat orgies – whatever.
The literacy challenged have another option: Create a photoshopped image or animation that accomplishes the same thing.
We will award a pile of hot Puma swag for the four winners of the following categories: Most creative, most humorous, most revolutionary, and most ridiculous. The best overall rant or multimedia submission wins the mother of all prizes – go sailing with the monster.
The Pro Am race in Boston is May 10 and of course we are a bit late with this announcement, so be advised the deadline for all contest entries is April 27. So get going, and send them in!
