In May, we’re following the entire Tybee 500 beach cat race with our boy John Casey and the Sailing Anarchy-sponsored Team Velocity Sailing Tybee 500 campaign. The boys (and girl) have recently wrapped up a nice sponsorship deal with Magic Marine, and here’s some other good news:
In the Catamaran world, there is no race which requires more planning and preparation than the Tybee 500. We have been hard at work getting everything sauced out. A high priority here has been acquiring two brand-new Hobie Wildcats for both Carrie Howe and I and Mischa Heemskerk’s team to sail in the Tybee. Mission accomplished, but it was a bit difficult because there are over 150 preorders in Europe already – a good problem to have! The Wildcats we bought are for sale immediately after the race at a sweet discount over a new boat, and they’ll be ready for pickup when we hit the beach in Tybee.
