An alarmingly powerful low pressure system brought the back markers in the VOR roaring to the front, with the heretofore lagging Telefonica Black clocking a whopping 555 nm 24-hour run to surge to the front of the fleet! All video and audio transmissions were terminated as the boat was said to be virtually underwater the entire time. Obviously a fantastic run for them and we can only imagine what the leaders will finally do when they fully get into this breeze.
VOR rumors have the disbanded Russian entrant coming back for the remainder of the race, which is good news. The bad news and one that is sure to cause much consternation among the VOR honchos is that the return of the Russian boat is said to be funded by Sergei Mikhailov, reputed to be head of the Solntsevskaya bratva crime family in the Russian Mafia.
