Yet another incident of piracy took place a couple of days ago off the coast of Thailand when English cruiser Malcolm Robertson was beaten to death and tossed off his 44-footer into the sea. His wife was stripped and bound while the killers ate all the food aboard and joked about the dead man. It’s simply impossible to imagine what this poor woman experienced, and it’s getting more and more common – and this is not acceptable in any part of the globe. Here’s some heartbreaking video of Linda Robertson widow talking about the incident to the BBC. In the late 18th and 19th centuries, well-armed warships and privateers motivated by law, bounty and encouraged by governments destroyed almost every vestige of the rampant pirate culture in the Caribbean and Mediterranean seas. As the loss of innocent lives and millions of dollars continues to grow, isn’t it time for the US military to take a leadership role in fucking these pirates up for good while spreading the word that piracy will be punishable by death?
