Port Fierce

Valeri Safiullin’s garage built sportboat Breeze won the PHRF 1 class, while Ray Nowak’s Gaucho took PHRF 2 at the inaugural Sailing Anarchy Yacht Club CHAWS regatta in breezy Fort Pierce, Florida this weekend.  But the story isn’t about the winners for this event – it’s really about a venue with ridiculously dependable breeze in the low 20s, square 8-foot waves, and 85 degree temperatures making perfect sailing conditions for mixed fleets of sportboats and shitboxes.  Super low prices, free beer, all kinds of swag, and welcoming locals didn’t hurt either.  We’ll have a complete report on Wednesday from this ultimate grassroots event, along with tons more pics from Meredith Block/Blocksail.com.
