Yesterday we were complaining about a near news black out, from the Etchells Worlds; then leader John Bertrand and crew got blacked out. After a general recall, the race committee brought the dreaded black flag into play, meaning that any boats that broke the start would be immediately disqualified and that is what happened to Bertrand.
So, a new series leader emerged, as Jason Muir and crew’s results were good enough to leap frog them into the lead, whilst Bertrand & Co ended up back in 14 place overall. However, crews are able to drop their worst race once six races have been run, so Bertrand and crew could soon be back in first place. Having said that, Muir and crew have quietly sailed the most consistent series of any team, their worst score so far a 10th place. Full story here. Pic by Andrea Francolini and more here.
