Anarchist “2high2tight” had an excellent observation on Yacht Clubs the other day. He writes that, “These are crappy times to be a yacht club. Recruiting new members is a bitch — the pool is much smaller.”
He took a proposal to his home club that aims to convince them to purchase a fleet of sportboats to invigorate the membership, draw in new members, and generally do good things for the sport. Clubs have certainly done this before – some with excellent results – might it be a good call for yours? Or are you stuck in a 19th century hole, watching the club you love do stupid shit like adding “stag nights” and recruiting tennis players?
For those looking to compare the different sportboats available on the North American market, here is the ultimate comp chart for the twenties, thanks to Schoonerman.
